On this episode of the Sofa King Podcast, we research the Beast of British Columbia, aka the Rent-a-Car Killer, Clifford Olson. Olson was the most famous serial killer in Canada, and his are not the typical insane actions of most people we profile—instead, they are downright evil. Olson ranked a 38 out of 40 on the Hale Psychopathy test, and he killed eleven known victims in 1980 and 1981. All of them were between the ages of 9 and 18. All of them were sodomized and raped and most of them drugged and killed in a torturous manner.
So what makes him so evil? For one thing, he convinced the Canadian Royal Mounted Police to participate in a system of “Cash for Bodies.” They had very little evidence to convict them, so he “sold” each victim’s location and body to the authorities, making $100,000 for his wife and son in the process. Second, he was utterly unrepentant, often writing the families of the victims to taunt them with graphic and often pornographic accounts of what he did to their children. This man escaped jail seven times over his career and was X-rayed once and found to have handcuff and cell keys in is anus!
If you are a fan of our serial killer profiles, you won’t want to miss this one. We go into one of the deaths in especially graphic details, so it is most definitely not safe for work or even for those with a weak constitution. This is one sick individual, and his crimes are repugnant and shocking.
