On this episode, we explore the life and cult of Charles Manson.
His story is a wild one, that dates back to a prostitute mother and a life of crime starting before he was even a teenager. Born with the legal name “No Name Maddox,” Manson was in and out of juvenile detention centers for everything from grand theft auto to robbing gas stations and even prison sodomy. This ultimate bad seed learned how to play music while in prison, and he also studied Scientology and the beliefs of the strange Process Church, which believed Satan and Christ would become friends and then come down and judge humanity at the end of the world.
This is where things get heavy. Once out of prison for petty crimes, Manson started The Family, his cult of mostly women who did whatever he wanted (though his top lieutenant Charles “Tex” Watson was a male). And what he wanted was to start a race war that would topple society and put him at the top.
After a summer living in a house with Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys and recording music, Manson orchestrated a series of murders that he and his Family pulled off because a the secret code in the Beatle’s song “Helter Skelter” told him to. (I wish I was making this up.) He shoots a drug dealer named Bernard “Lotsapoppa” Crowe and then gets a taste for blood. In order to bring about Helter Skelter, the Family starts a murdering spree through the late 1960’s: The Hinman Murder, the infamous Tate Murders, The LaBianca Murders, The Willett Murders, The Shea Murder, and even some others discovered in 2008. Oh, and did I mention that one of his followers named Squeaky Fromme tried to assassinate President Gerald Ford and that many people think Manson was a product of MKULTRA’s CIA mind control program? Listen all the way to the end to find out about his Savior Gun that will help wage war against pollution and turn you all into warriors against pollution. The power is yours!
