On this episode, we interview our very special guest, Zoltan Istvan.
Zoltan is a transhumanist (and is in fact the official Presidential candidate for the Transhumanist Party!). What is transhumanism? It is a social movement of people trying to use science and technology to improve the human condition, many hoping to achieve immortality within our lifetimes. From organ printing to genetic engineering, from robotic hearts to chips in our brains, transhumanists embrace technology and think we can live to see a day when we transcend the condition of being human through responsible use of technology and advances in science.
Zoltan talks about his own philosophies of transhumanism and how he is running for President of the United States as a means to help unify transhumanists and put science at the forefront of politics. Having traveled the world for the National Geographic Channel and written for Vice’s Motherboard, Psychology Today, The Huffington Post, The San Francisco Chronicle, and Gizmodo, he is a very interesting man and gives a very interesting interview. Tune in to hear about his narrow escape from land mine in Vietnam, his cross-country drive in the “Immortality Bus,” the sport he invented in which he Volcano Boards down active volcanoes avoiding poisonous gasses and falling magma (yes, it’s a real thing), and how all of this makes him want to live forever.
